What If I Had Invested Calculator
See what an investment would be worth today if you had bought at an earlier price.
Method
How it works
Enter a hypothetical investment amount, the asset price at the earlier point and its price today. The calculator converts the investment into the number of shares that could have been bought, then values those shares at today’s price.
The supporting figures show the hypothetical profit, percentage return and price multiple. Fees, taxes, dividends and currency movements are not included.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Does this use historical market data?
No. You provide both the earlier price and today’s price; the site does not connect to market-data services.
Are dividends included?
No. The result only compares the two prices and the amount invested.
Can this be used for fractional shares?
Yes. The calculation allows fractional shares rather than rounding to whole units.
