What is my weighted average crypto purchase price across several buys?
Average crypto cost is total money spent divided by total tokens acquired. A small purchase at an extreme price should influence the result less than a large purchase, which is why a simple average of quoted prices is wrong.
Combining crypto lots by economic weight
Enter the coin amount and unit price for two purchases. Each amount is multiplied by its price to find cost, then the combined cost is divided by the total coin amount.
The result is a quantity-weighted average, so the larger purchase has more influence. The calculation does not include trading fees or transfers.

The weighted average should fall within the range of positive purchase prices. The lot containing more invested money or tokens has greater influence, depending on how the config defines each input.

Transfers between wallets are not new purchases. Including transferred tokens without their original cost will distort the average.
