What profit remains on a crypto trade after entry and exit fees?
Crypto trade profit is the difference between sale value and purchase cost after both sides of the transaction are charged. Keeping token quantity explicit prevents a price change from being mistaken for the money result.
Charging costs on both sides
Fees = [(Buy × Amount) + (Sell × Amount)] × Fee% ÷ 100Net P/L = (Sell × Amount) − (Buy × Amount) − FeesOne crypto round trip after exchange fees
The default case values one token position at its buy and sell prices, calculates fees on both transaction values and subtracts those costs from the gross price gain.
Illustrative inputs; currency amounts below use USD. Rates and prices are assumptions, not live quotes.
- Buy price
- $28,000.00
- Current price
- $61,000.00
- Amount of coin
- 0.25
- Fee per side
- 0.1%
Step-by-step calculation
- Purchase cost = 28,000 × 0.25 = 7,000; sale value = 61,000 × 0.25 = 15,250.
- Both-side fees = (7,000 + 15,250) × 0.1 ÷ 100 = 22.25.
- Net P/L = 15,250 − 7,000 − 22.25 = 8,227.75. Network fees are separate unless included in your assumptions.

Money profit versus percentage return
Net profit shows money gained or lost; return percentage compares that result with the original position cost. Fees have a larger proportional effect on small price moves.
Exchange costs that are not percentage fees
Do not enter a network withdrawal charge as a percentage trading fee unless that is how the exchange charges it. Fixed and percentage costs behave differently.
- The full token quantity is bought and sold at the entered prices.
- The same percentage fee applies to entry and exit.
- Spread, gas, tax and currency conversion are excluded.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Does the crypto profit calculation include both buy and sell fees?
Yes. The fee percentage is applied separately to the buy value and sell value, then both fees are deducted.
Can I use the current price without selling?
Yes. Entering the current price gives an unrealised estimate under the assumption that the same sell-side fee would apply.
Are blockchain gas fees included?
No. Only the percentage fee per side is included in this formula.
