Profit and Loss Calculator
Work out exactly what you made or lost on a trade, including fees.
Method
How it works
Enter the price paid, the latest or selling price, the number of shares and the fee charged on each side of the trade. The calculator works out the original cost, current value and total fees before showing the net result.
Return is measured against the original position cost. Both the buy-side and sell-side fees are included, so the result is closer to the amount you would actually keep or lose.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Does the result include trading fees?
Yes. The fee percentage is applied to both the purchase value and the sale or current value.
Can I use the current market price?
Yes. Enter the current price to estimate an unrealised result, or the executed sale price for a realised result.
Why can the return differ from the price change?
The return is based on net profit or loss after fees, while a simple price change ignores those costs.
